Dear JES Parents and Caregivers,
The school year is off to a great start at JES! It has been wonderful to see our classrooms, cafeteria, and playground filled with children. As you know from my communications yesterday, we have had a few recent Covid cases. Below are some important Covid updates:
Today we learned of another member of our school community who tested positive for Covid. This person has not come to JES during the period of time when they could be infectious, so there were no close contacts.
New Covid Mitigation Measures
Beginning today, we have implemented the following procedures to further reduce contact between students from different classrooms:
Students will sit with their class at lunch in the cafeteria. Class tables are separated by 6 feet in all directions from other class tables
Students will not mix with students from other classes during the before school, snack, inside recess, and dismissal times
Students have assigned seats on the bus for morning and afternoon rides
With our recent cases of Covid-19, many of you have been asking about how you can obtain a PCR Covid test. Here is some information from our health office:
Free PCR testing from the Vermont Department of Health: Testing Locations and Hours. You may make an appointment or walk in during their open hours.
Here is a helpful Frequently Asked Questions document.
Another option is to contact your primary health care provider and arrange for testing.
School Based Testing Update
“Dear Lamoille Families,
As the District COVID-19 Safety Coordinator, I was notified today that CIC Health has had some technology issues in setting up our on-site testing program; therefore, our start date for testing has been moved to Monday, September 20, 2021, and will continue every Monday thereafter.
If you have provided consent for your student to test, you do not need to complete another one. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may impose on families; however, we are working with CIC Health to ensure our site data is correct. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
